The John A. Logan College Foundation is hosting a free Legacy Planning Luncheon on  Tuesday, December 6th.  Tiffanny H. Sievers, owner of SI  Elder Law, will provide attendees with important information everyone should know about estate planning.

Do you own a house or another large asset and want to control who receives these when you die? Do you have the right documents to assign medical decision-making to others if needed?  Have you heard about changing federal and state tax and estate laws, but don't know if they'll affect you?  These are the sorts of questions that estate planning can answer.  Join this lively and interactive luncheon at John A. Logan College.  Find out all you need to know to re-evaluate your current plan or to get started. Sievers has worked with individuals and couples from all different walks of life to create plans that make sense for them.

Sievers says while it is important for her to share information it’s equally important for her to listen to her clients. "It’s important to me to give my clients the opportunity to consider all their options.  They are then able to make an educated decision on what their goal is based on what is important to them.”  Sievers will cover the following topics, wills and trusts, powers of attorney, planning for health care needs, recent changes in the federal and state estate tax laws and charitable bequests.  In addition to the presentation, there will be time for questions and answers.

Staci Bynum, Executive Director of the John A. Logan College Foundation will speak about the growing need for new scholarships for students and what the Foundation is doing to meet those needs. “While tuition at John A. Logan College is among the lowest of community colleges in the State of Illinois, the fact remains that over 65% of our students rely on financial assistance to pursue their education.  The College Foundation champions for those who dream of an education and great future through scholarship assistance,” said Bynum.  Attendees will hear how they can leave a legacy that will change lives for years to come.

The Free Legacy Planning Luncheon is Tuesday, December 6th at noon in the Ivey Room located in the conference center at John A. Logan College.  Please call Kathy at 985-2828 ext 8355 to make your reservation today.  Seating is limited.

MARION, IL -- The Illinois Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) passed the Federal Deficit Reduction Act in Illinois on October 11, 2011. This new law will impact seniors and their families when trying to qualify for long-term care in the nursing home. These new regulations will fundamentally change the laws for those needing nursing home or assisted living care in Illinois. Call 618-997-3500 to schedule a free consultation with Attorney Tiffanny H. Sievers to discuss how these new rules will affect you and your family needing long term care.

Attorney Sievers is the chair of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Illinois Chapter, and worked with other Illinois Elder Law attorneys to minimize the impact of the DRA on seniors.
